I've always felt a pandemic would happen at some time. But 2.8 million, you know, what have we had so far? I mean, it will grow. And at age 89, a little more likely to be that I was in that group. So I, you know, there's going to be 2.8 million deaths this year. So I really- I'm a probabilities guy in my nature. But by accident, I mean, I had an annual heart check where I wear something around my waist for a couple- the guys said my- it's never been better. I'm not sure what I'm doing to get in better shape. I'm in- I just had two different doctors tell me I'm in much better shape than I was a few years ago.
That seems to ward off everything else in life. WARREN BUFFETT: Well, I'm drinking a little more Coca-Cola, actually. Warren Buffett appears on Influencers with Andy SerwerĪNDY SERWER: What precautions are you taking personally? Have you changed any of your habits? On September 15th, or 16th, they were all panicked. There were- you had 35 million people on September 1st that weren't worried at all about their money-market accounts. That was- and, of course, the financial panic. And some time late in the morning, you know, a decision, I think they had made the decision, you know, we're going to stay open, but it was really close. And the next morning there was a check due to the clearinghouse in Chicago that didn't get there. At the close of business on Monday, October 19th, most of the specialist firms, which were important in those days on the New York Stock Exchange, were broke. WARREN BUFFETT: Well, I've certainly been a fair number of times when panic has reigned in Wall Street.
I mean, it's not like the market for real estate, or farms, or things of that sort.ĪNDY SERWER: Does this remind you of any other time? And it may have taken me to 89 years of age to throw this one into the experience, but, you know, the markets, if you have to be open second by second, they react to news in a big-time way. WARREN BUFFETT: I told you many years ago, if you stick around long enough, you'll see everything in markets. What the heck is going on, Warren Buffett?
